As stressed earlier in this section, one can restore a relativistic formulation by appropriately matching the modification of the dispersion relation and a modification of energy-momentum conservation. When the modifications of the dispersion relation and of energy-momentum conservation (even when both present) do not match, one has a framework that requires a preferred frame.
