On the depth and regularity of the symmetric algebra

Abstract: Let $(R,\mm)$ be a standard graded $K$-algebra whose defining ideal is componentwise linear. Using Gröbner basis techniques, bounds for the depth and the regularity of the symmetric algebra $\Sym(\mm)$ are given.
